Carlos Acosta

Hello! My name is Carlos Acosta, and I was born and raised in Colombia. My favorite sports are soccer and basketball, which I’ve been playing most of my life—especially soccer. This will be my fourth year working at camp, and I’m really excited to be back. A bit about my background: I started playing soccer at the age of 7 in a well-regarded sports academy in Colombia called Compensar. At age 9, I also began training in basketball. With Compensar, I had the opportunity to compete nationally in the “Pony Fútbol” league, which was a big step in my athletic journey.

Over the years, I’ve continued to grow both as an athlete and as a person. Last year, I competed at a semi-professional level, representing my university, ECI, in Colombia. Due to personal reasons, I later transferred to a different university and had to leave the team. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Foreign Languages at Uniminuto University. That’s a little bit about me! I’m really looking forward to spending the summer working at camp, connecting with others, and making the most of this experience!

Noah Chan

Hi, my name is Noah Chan! This will be my fourth summer at Decathlon, and my first time working as a Junior Counselor. Decathlon has always been one of my favorite camps, as sports are my favorite hobbies. I am from Los Altos, and just finished my freshman year at Mountain View High School. I used to play soccer, flag football, and volleyball, but my favorite sports now are skiing, golf and basketball. This past year I played on the freshman basketball team for Mountain View High. I also enjoy origami in my freetime, as I love to have a little puzzle that is also artwork. My ideal day would be going skiing, coming home, eating ramen and watching American Football. I hope to have a great summer this year with Decathlon, and spending time with all the campers!

Group 2

Millie LeBaron

Hi! My name is Millie LeBaron and I am so excited to be working as a counselor at Decathlon this summer. This will be my first year here, and I can’t wait to meet everyone! I am from Los Altos, California, and attended Covington Elementary, Egan Junior High, then Saint Francis High School. I graduated from Saint Francis in 2024 and am now a rising sophomore at Santa Clara University. At SCU I am double majoring in Child Studies and Communications. After graduating college, I hope to attend grad school for a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Growing up, I played lots of different sports—some of my favorites were soccer, softball, and volleyball. In high school, I focused on water polo and swimming, competing year-round. While both were demanding, I loved the team spirit and competitive atmosphere. Some of my favorite memories include traveling to Malta with my water polo team and swimming in the 200 relay at WCAL. To stay active in college I had to shift gears away from the pool. I now play recreational pickleball and spend a lot of time on the treadmill. I am looking forward to some friendly camp competition and to helping everyone have a fun summer! See you all soon!

Cate Grunwald

Hi! My name is Cate Grunewald, and this is my 10th summer at Decathlon and my second summer working here as a Junior Counselor. I just finished my Sophomore year at Saint Francis High School and I can't wait for another fun summer at camp! Growing up I played almost every rec sport imaginable (soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, etc.) but now I am on my school's Varsity Swim team. Another fun fact about me is that I babysit a ton! On a typical week I babysit for at least 3 different families in the Los Altos/Mountain View area and I love it! Some of my best memories were made at Decathlon, and I am so excited to help your kids have the best experience possible!

Parker Mccabe

Hi! My name is Parker and this is my ninth year at Decathlon! Throughout my time both as a camper and as a JC, Decathlon has always been the highlight of my summer and has been an amazing place I can’t wait to return to year after year. I am a graduate of Los Altos High School and will be attending Cal Poly—SLO in the fall, where I plan to major in engineering. Throughout my time in high school, I’ve played water polo and been a part of my school’s swim team, choir, theater program, and have been involved in the National Honor Society (where I volunteer outside of school) and my school’s environmental club. I’m so excited to be back at Decathlon this summer!

Liav Shanava

Hi, my name is Liav Shanava, and I’m thrilled to be a Junior Counselor at Decathlon for the first time this summer! I’m 15 years old and will be a sophomore at Los Altos High School this coming school year. My favorite sports are tennis and volleyball, but outside of sports I also love backpacking, hiking, baking, and spending time with my friends and family. Decathlon has been a part of my summers since I was in kindergarten, and every year I’ve looked forward to the fun activities and the amazing people I’ve met. After having such a great experience as a camper and then as a JCIT, I’m so excited to take the next step and become a Junior Counselor. I’m dedicated to helping your children have an unforgettable summer full of fun, growth, and new friendships, just like I did!

Group 3

Guy Robbins

Hi! My name is Guy Robbins, and I’m really excited for my first summer with Decathlon. I’ve always loved playing sports. Soccer and basketball were my favorites growing up, but I had fun playing just about anything. I graduated from Mountain View High School where I was on the Track and Field team, and I’m now a rising junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying electrical engineering. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, rock climbing, and spending time in nature. I’m always up for an adventure or a good laugh, and I’m looking forward to making this summer a fun and memorable one for everyone at camp!

Evan Denardi

Hi! My name is Evan DeNardi, and I just finished my freshman year at St. Francis High School. This is my first summer as a Junior Counselor, but I’ve been part of Decathlon Sports Camp since first grade! I’m a graduate of St. Simon Parish School and an older brother to Liam, who’s currently in fourth grade. I played basketball at St. Francis this year and earned high honors as a scholar athlete. But my main sport is lacrosse, I play year-round and can’t wait to introduce it to any campers who want to give it a try! I have so many awesome memories here, and I’m excited to help create that same experience for the campers this year!

Nishka Gollamudi

Hi, my name is Nishka Gollamudi and this is my seventh summer at Decathlon. This camp has been a big part of my life and I look forward to playing, learning, and growing every summer with old and new friends. I attend Mountain View High School and I’m going into my junior year. At school I was a part of the Dance Spectrum program and although I won’t be in it next year, I love dancing and do Indian classical dance outside of school. I also do Taekwondo after school and help the young kids who attend classes. When I was in elementary school I enjoyed playing soccer and softball and learning the piano, and in middle school I started my dance classes and played cello. Now, in high school, I am still doing dance and taekwondo. I am part of my school's Ambassadors program and help people at MVHS get situated into high school life as well as take care of themselves and their mental health. I am also a peer counselor, and want to continue helping people in the future. I love hanging out with my family, especially my brothers who I get to play catch with and my friends who are very supportive and sweet. I also love music, and have the privilege of going to amazing concerts! This camp has made me a better person and I’m very excited to spend another summer here. I hope this summer will be just as amazing as the others!

Group 4

Liam Gerber

Hi! I’m Liam, and I’m excited to be spending another summer at Decathlon. This will be my 5th summer at Decathlon and first summer as a counselor. My journey with Decathlon began as a camper many years ago, and now, many summers later, I’m back as a counselor. Growing up in Mountain View just a few minutes from camp, Decathlon gave me the opportunity to play all of the sports I loved, create connections with other campers, and make lasting memories. It will be my goal this summer to provide all of my campers, regardless of athletic ability, with an unforgettable summer, filled with fun competition, new friendships, and lasting memories.

I graduated from Mountain View High School in 2023 and am now a rising Junior at the University of Texas in Austin studying psychology and minoring in business. Growing up, I was an avid sports player and played basketball, baseball, and soccer. I played soccer competitively until my Freshman year of high school and later played for Mountain View High’s soccer team during my sophomore year. In college, I play intramural soccer and enjoy going to the gym to get daily exercise. I am also a huge sports fan. From UT sports, especially football (Hook ‘Em), to Bay Area sports teams like the San Jose Sharks or 49ers, I am a diehard supporter and could talk about my favorite players, memories, and games for an endless amount of time. Do not hesitate to come talk to me about anything sports!

Outside of sports, I thoroughly enjoy hiking with my family and friends and exploring new beaches that the beautiful California coast has to offer. Living in Texas now for most of the year, I’ve realized there really is nothing like the California beaches. I look forward to an action packed and memorable summer!

Max Kremen

Hi! My name is Max Kremen, I am 16 years old and I go to Los Altos High School. I have been playing football for a while now, and it has become such a huge part of my life. I like the challenge, the competition, and being on a team that pushes everyone to get better every day. This will be my fifth summer at camp, and it is something I look forward to every year. Camp has always been a place for me to simply be myself, be free, and create lasting memories.

Outside of sports and school, I’m the oldest of four kids, which means there’s always something going on at home. Being a big brother keeps me on my toes, but it’s made me more responsible and probably more patient than I’d like to admit. I'm a fan of all sports, I like to remain active, and I'm just looking to absorb it all while trying to determine what's next. I value the people in my life and the things that I've been through so far—most importantly the things that have served to shape me on and off the field!

Adi Lerner

Hi! My name is Adi, and I am super excited to be a JC this year. I am a rising sophomore at Kehillah High School and am super excited to be back at Decathlon for my sixth summer! My favorite sports are basketball and volleyball, and I love the Warriors. I played basketball and volleyball for my school team this year and had so much fun that I wanted to carry the sports into the summer at Decathlon. In school, my passion is towards English and writing. I hope to learn and dig deeper into journalism as I get older and maybe even write for a local newspaper or something bigger. My favorite book series of all time is Harry Potter, especially the third book, and a hot take of mine is that chocolate and strawberries don't belong together. I am so excited to hang out with the kiddos this summer and get to know them, and I hope they will love Decathlon as much as I do! I am so thrilled to be part of such an awesome camp and I am looking forward to a great summer!

Max Gotham

Hi! My name is Max, and I have been attending Decathlon Sports Club for 9 years. I am a rising sophomore at homestead high school, and I have always loved playing sports. The sports I've played are: soccer, baseball, football, and track. In my free time I like to play sports, board and video games, hangout with friends, go on bike rides, and watch movies. I love Decathlon and I look forward to it every summer. I am very excited to be a Junior Counselor this year and have a bunch of fun!

Group 5

Avi Sanchez

Hi, my name is Avi, and this is my eighth summer at Decathlon, my fourth summer working at camp, and my second summer as a counselor. Having been born and raised in Mountain View, I’m thankful to Decathlon for providing me with a space to have fun and make lasting memories from elementary school all the way until college. Decathlon does a fantastic job catering to all age ranges and levels of sporting ability, which is why I’ve attended for so many years. I graduated from Mountain View High School in the Class of 2023 and I currently attend the University of Michigan’s school of engineering, majoring in computer science. In high school I participated in track and cross country, but enjoyed playing sports like soccer and football recreationally.

In college, I love running and going to the gym to stay active. I’m also a huge football fan, and I'm hoping my hometown team, the 49ers, can make a comeback this season. Though my sophomore year was a blast, I’m excited to be back home, not only to get to work at camp, but also to escape the freezing temperatures! In my free time I love to bike, read, play the guitar, and watch movies. Currently I’m learning songs on the acoustic guitar from Bob Dylan, the Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac - music tastes inspired by listening to 70s and 80s radio while driving with my dad. My hobbies are ever changing, so if you have any recommendations for new activities to try out, let me know! I’m looking forward to working at Decathlon, and I hope to make a summer of fun and lasting memories for my campers.

Shaun Markowitz

Hi, my name is Shaun and this will be my 9th year at Decathlon! I have attended Decathlon over half of my life, and am very honored to be a Counselor this year. My favorite sports are soccer and football. I have played soccer almost my whole life, and now play on both my high school football and soccer teams. I am an incoming sophomore with a passion for both academics and sports. I have two brothers who have both attended Decathlon for many years and enjoy it a lot. I have loved coming to camp every year, and hope that your kids have a fantastic experience just like I did!

Group 6

Jackson Dewberry

Hey everyone! My name is Jackson Dewberry. I have three years of experience as a camper at Decathlon, and this year will be my first as a counselor. Decathlon was always my favorite camp growing up, so I’m beyond excited to help create that same amazing experience for the campers this summer.

I’ve lived in San Jose my whole life and attended Loyola Elementary and Blach Intermediate through 8th grade. I’m currently heading into my senior year at Chico State, where I’m studying Communications with a minor in Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management.

I’ve always been a huge sports fanatic! Growing up I played baseball, soccer, basketball, football, and volleyball. In college, I’ve stayed active by participating in many intramural sports. Some of my favorite things to do are hiking, playing basketball at the gym, spending time with friends and family, golfing, and making informational sports TikToks.

I’ve always loved spending time with kids—probably something I picked up from my dad, who’s a teacher. In the future, I hope to become an event planner for sports teams or work in a role that keeps me involved in the world of sports (if you couldn’t tell, I’m passionate about sports!). I’m so excited to spend the summer at Decathlon Sports Club and can’t wait to have a blast with all the kiddos!

Alex Yang

Hi, my name is Alex, this is my 11th summer at Decathlon, and I look forward to my third summer working as a junior counselor! With 2 years working as a JC, I feel prepared to be a great JC this summer. I'm 17 years old, I was raised in Cupertino, and I will be a senior at Lynbrook high school next year. Over the years, I have tried many sports including basketball, flag football, baseball, and track and field. In fact, I was on the track team last year at my high school. I enjoy cubing (Rubik's cube solving), video editing, hiking, and playing video games in my spare time. Becoming an employee for Decathlon was something I’ve wanted to do since my first year at camp, and I'm super excited to have a great time with the campers!

Group 7

Abraham Paley

Hi! My name is Abraham Paley, and this is my first summer at Decathlon Sports Camp! I was born and raised in Palo Alto and this fall, I will be starting my senior year of college at Elon University, where I am majoring in Sport Management and hope to either be a sports agent or work in a front office role. This past semester I had the incredible opportunity and privilege to study abroad in London, which will forever have a lasting impact on me. For most of my life I have either been going to summer camps or working at them, in locations ranging from Menlo Park all the way to Long Island, New York. I have played numerous sports growing up, and still continue to enjoy basketball in my spare time. Some sports I follow religiously are the NBA, NFL, college football and college basketball. I’m looking forward to spending the summer working at Decathlon Sports Club; I would not want to spend my summer any other way, and I hope to make your kids feel the same way!

Matt Wrenn

Hi! My name is Matthew and I am a rising sophomore at St Francis High School. I play soccer for MVLA and ran Track and Field for my high school this year which I can’t wait to do again next year and get better. I have been coming to Decathlon for seven years now, and each summer has been super fun! This camp has brought me so many lessons and memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. Being a camper and JCIT and getting involved in this camp has been some of the best moments in my life, and I am super excited for what this summer as a JC has to bring. I can’t wait to make some incredible memories with all the young campers this summer just like I did at the camp!

Group 7.5

Khalil Qureshi

Hi! My name is Khalil Qureshi. This will be my tenth summer at Decathlon and my second summer working here. I will be going into my freshman year at UC Davis studying economics. I was born and raised in Palo Alto where I played many seasons of basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. While I have spent many hours as a player, I have also spent a lot of time coaching basketball and flag football. During my free time, I like to watch basketball, Golden State Warriors specifically, watch movies/TV shows, and try new foods. My main goal at Decathlon is to help the campers have the same amazing experience I had, and I am super excited to be working at camp this summer!

Wes Calhoun

Hi! My name is Wes Calhoun, and I am a rising junior at Los Alto High School. I have been at Decathlon for over 9 years now, and some of my best memories of summer have been with this amazing camp! I am a second year junior counselor, and I couldn't be more excited for this summer. I am and always have been a very active kid, and this camp is perfect for me! It's allowed me to meet new people I never would have otherwise met, and I have made new friendships and bonded with counselors more than I ever thought I would. Some of the amazing staff have become my role models, and I've looked up to them for years. Outside of camp, some of my favorite sports are basketball and baseball, both of which I have played at Los Altos High School for my two years there so far. Just recently, I was called up to our varsity baseball team and we played in a division 3 CCS tournament (CCS - Central Coastal Section). I have also been a part of karate, swimming, soccer, and wrestling.

I have become more of a leader and a mentor throughout all of my years at camp. It's boosted my confidence and my success, and I'm sure it will for your kid too! I have 2 siblings that both come to camp, one as a JCIT and one as a full counselor. This camp has become a part of my life and a tradition for every summer. I look forward to it every year and can't wait to keep it going. It has taught me so much, and has always been fun. I know your camper will feel the same way by the end of it!

Group 8

Charlie Premo

Hi! My name is Charlie Premo, and I’m a local Bay Area kid from Willow Glen. I graduated from Bellarmine in 2023, and I’m now entering my Junior year at Gonzaga University where I am majoring in Finance and Data Analysis with a minor in Sports Management. Sports have always been a very important part of my life, starting when I was a young kid attending my older brother’s games and watching the giants dynasty start. I was a very energetic kid and loved running around, so my mom signed me up for every sport she could think of (probably so I would stop annoying her)! I played little league baseball, soccer, flag football, and my eventual favorite sport basketball. I played other sports throughout my life, including volleyball and running cross country, and participated in various sports for fun with my friends and family like pickleball, tennis, and hockey. However, basketball will always be my favorite, and I joined travel basketball teams in Middle and High School and played for my school. Around Covid, I lost a lot of motivation and passion for sports and basketball, and ended up falling out of it for a couple years, before getting back into it now that I’m at college. My friends and I play every intramural sport we can, and for basketball I’m our designated “player coach” because of my background experience. I am a diehard Bay Area Sports fan and love attending as many Giants games as I can while I’m home. This will be my first summer at Decathlon, however I participated in very similar camps all across the Bay Area, and I’m really excited to get started!

Besides sports, I enjoy catching up on TV shows and movies with my mom as well as listening to music and playing games with my friends and family. I’m the youngest of 4 so I’m used to competition, and the recent games we have been playing are Clue and Catan, as well as Chess this year. I participate in student consulting with local entrepreneurs in a program through my school, and I hope to use that experience and my degree to pursue a career in the sports business world, either working with a franchise directly or being part of the media. I am incredibly excited to be a part of Decathlon this summer!

Roman Sargis

Hi, my name is Roman, and this will be my sixth summer at Decathlon and my first as a Junior Counselor. I was born in Los Altos and now attend Homestead High School where I will be a junior this upcoming year. I have a passion for sports which started at a young age. I started out playing soccer, and then got more interested in basketball where I played until 8th grade. At the same time, I was playing baseball for fun, but I got more serious about it freshman year and am currently on the Homestead team where I play outfield and first base. In my free time I like to socialize with friends by playing golf, going out to eat, and playing video games. I also enjoy watching football and basketball games, and my favorite teams are the 49ers and Warriors. I am excited to be a junior counselor and make the experience for the campers as great as it was for me!

Group 9

Dylan Chow

Hi! My name is Dylan Chow, and I am so excited to work with your kids this summer. As a camper, I enjoyed every second at Decathlon-- the games of Capture the Flag, wiffle ball, basketball, and of course, the popsicles and weekly excursions. Now, as a first-year counselor, I am honored to be able to give campers the same amazing experiences I had.

Physical fitness has always been a crucial part of my life. Since kindergarten, I’ve engaged in all kinds of sports-- soccer, basketball, track and field, and my favorites, baseball and football. Now, as a college student, I have the privilege of playing rugby for my college at the D1A level. I also enjoy weightlifting and learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am a big believer that playing sports and exercising are great outlets for everybody, especially kids, and can be very beneficial to one’s mental health. I do believe winning can be enjoyable. However, as a counselor, I focus not so much on competitiveness but on safety, and having fun.

I also love watching sports! I take after my dad in that I am a diehard Minnesota sports fan-- the Twins and Vikings are my favorites, which is often somewhat painful. My favorite sports to watch are football, baseball, mixed martial arts, and rugby.

Presently, I am attending UC Santa Barbara with a major in History. I love it there! The people are amazing, and the beach is never more than a few minutes away. In my freetime, I enjoy watching the sunset, taking walks, and listening to music. And, I’d like to surf at least once before I leave!

This summer is going to be fantastic! I can’t wait to meet and connect with my campers, whom I already know I’m going to love.

Group 10

Khalil Qureshi

Hi! My name is Khalil Qureshi. This will be my tenth summer at Decathlon and my second summer working here. I will be going into my freshman year at UC Davis studying economics. I was born and raised in Palo Alto where I played many seasons of basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. While I have spent many hours as a player, I have also spent a lot of time coaching basketball and flag football. During my free time, I like to watch basketball, Golden State Warriors specifically, watch movies/TV shows, and try new foods. My main goal at Decathlon is to help the campers have the same amazing experience I had, and I am super excited to be working at camp this summer! implement into a child’s life that they will carry on with them for years to come. I am excited to be a counselor this summer and I look forward to meeting everyone and building a friendship with you and your child!

Group 11

Cassie Hickinbotham

Hi! My name is Cassie Hickinbotham and this is my second summer at Decathlon. I am so honored and excited to be returning to camp, not only for the experience but for the special memories I get to continue to make here. I am from Campbell California, where I played various sports growing up. I played softball for a few years growing up. I then began dancing where I was on a competitive team for over 7 years. I finished off my sports career by playing goalkeeper for the field hockey team at Branham High School, where I graduated in 2023. This coming fall I will continue with my college career attending Colorado State University for my third year, majoring in Communications with a minor in Media Studies.

Outside of school, I am very passionate about music. I love all genres and I especially love to attend concerts in my free time. I also love to spend time in nature, such as hiking, camping, or skiing in the Colorado mountains. I am very excited to be involved and work at Decathlon again, and I hope to make as positive of an impact for the campers as I had when I was younger.

Ellie Westgate

Hi, my name is Ellie and this is my 12th summer at camp. I started at camp when I was 6 years old because my older brother raved about how much fun it was. I joined the next summer and have come back to each one since then. This is my fourth year on staff, first as a counselor. Every year I have a blast with my group and really enjoy getting to know each camper. I was born and raised in Mountain View, California with my 2 siblings who also attended camp. I was exposed to many sports at around age 5 including gymnastics, soccer, and basketball, and then later I tried softball and volleyball. I played volleyball and basketball all of middle school and slowly pulled away from all other sports to commit to competitive basketball.

I just finished four years at Mountain View High School as a varsity athlete and involved student. I played basketball for my high school team all four years, starting the last three seasons on varsity and being a captain this year. Also, this year I was a part of my school's inaugural flag football team, enjoying my spot as a captain and quarterback. As a student, I have worked hard to keep up my grades and be involved in different ways, and I am super excited to continue my academic journey at the University of Oregon next fall! I plan to study sports business and administration as an avid athletics lover.

Outside of school, I love hanging out with friends, being outside, and cooking in the kitchen. I also played on a local club basketball team last year and now enjoy coaching for the same program. As always, I am super excited to return to Decathlon this year for another awesome summer. Each year has been such an amazing experience, meeting new people and creating fun new memories. I can’t wait to work as a counselor this year, and may there be many more memories to come!

Annie Aliashivi

Hi, my name is Annie Aliashvili and this is my second year as a JC! I was born in Narragansett, RI, raised in Los Altos, and I am a rising senior at Los Altos High School. I am the oldest of four siblings, I have a 9 year old sister, a 6 year old brother, and a newborn brother. At Los Altos High School, I am a part of the associated student government (ASB), which allows me to lead by example and be immersed in the school community. Growing up, I played many different sports including volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, hockey, and swimming. For as long as I can remember, the water has always had a special place in my heart. This led me to play for the varsity water polo and swim competitively, both with unforgettable memories. With my love for water, I used these skills to get lifeguard certified. In academics, I am passionate about working with animals and growing my knowledge in biology. Outside of school, I love spending time with friends, being outdoors, doing photography, painting, baking, and traveling. I absolutely love working with kids and I can’t wait to spend my summer with amazing counselors and campers at Decathlon!

Yasmin Dasmalchi

Hello! My name is Yasmin and this is my 9th summer here at Decathlon. I am so excited for my first year working as a JC! I am 14 years old and attend Mountain View High School, where I am about to enter my sophomore year. I have always loved playing sports, games, and just being outdoors - so Decathlon is somewhere I can always count on to enjoy those activities and make the most out of my summer every year. Outside of school, I love playing soccer, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. I have played competitive soccer for almost 12 years now– since I was 3!  All of those things have shaped my values, and I apply them to my daily life — especially at camp. Even though it's early, after high school, I plan on going to a University in California with a Pre-Medical undergraduate degree, to later go to medical school and pursue my dream of becoming a Children's Doctor (pediatrician). I love biology and working with kids, so becoming a pediatrician feels like a good path for me. Being a JC at Decathlon gives me an amazing opportunity to follow my passion of working with kids, while having so much fun. I’m so grateful to be part of this team, and I hope to help make camp just as fun and memorable for others as it’s always been for me.

Group 12

Lilley Stryker

Hi! My name is Lilley Stryker, and this will be my first summer at Decathlon. I’m so excited for the opportunity to meet everyone and make great memories!

This fall, I will be entering my Junior year at UC Santa Barbara, where I’m double majoring in Mathematics and Economics. I’m involved with several on-campus clubs such as Finance Connection and Women in Business, but in between classes you can usually find me at the beach. Next quarter, I’m incredibly excited to take a break from Santa Barbara to study abroad in Italy for three months with my best friend Melissa. While there, I’ll be traveling across Europe while taking classes on Italian art, food, and architecture, and am ecstatic for the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture.

Athletics have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up dancing on a competitive team for 7 years, traveling to perform in national competitions and even Disneyland parades. Dance allowed me to develop the perfect balance of teamwork as well as discipline, and I especially loved teaching the younger junior team girls— providing me with plenty of experience with kids. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found a passion for weightlifting, and you can find me in the gym 7 days a week without fail. I believe that staying active, learning the importance of teamwork, and making friends are some of the most important skills growing up that a child can get from sports. I’m looking forward to working at Decathlon and helping share my love of sports with your kids all summer!

Yardenne Sternheim

Hi! My name is Yardenne Sternheim, and I’m going to be a JC at Decathlon this summer. I’ve grown up in Palo Alto my whole life, but aspire to travel the world someday. This will be my ninth summer at Decathlon, and I’m just as excited as all the previous ones. I’m a rising senior at Palo Alto High School. I enjoy history and English, as well as journalism, and I’m on one of my school’s publications, Verde Magazine. I can’t wait to work with the campers and play all the sports during camp. I play mostly water sports, swimming and water polo, but with two brothers and an active family, you can find me playing other sports during my free time. Every year I look forward to coming back to camp, and am so happy to be working at Decathlon this summer.

Aditi Rairkar

My name is Aditi and I’m an incoming sophomore at Homestead High School. This year is my ninth year at camp and I’m so excited to be a junior counselor! I have played softball for eight years, and I love swimming— whether in the pool or at the beach. I’m in a tutoring program at Homestead where I tutor young kids in ESL and Mathematics, and I love it so much. Being a camper was so exciting and fun, and I’m so stoked that I can be a part of my camper’s happy summers this year!

Dana Manor

Hi! My name is Dana. I am a rising sophomore at Mountain View High School and this is my ninth summer at Decathlon. I started out as a camper in group 11, and then as a Junior Counselor in Training. When I was a camper, I would spend all year looking forward to camp, so I'm especially excited to be a Junior Counselor this summer. I can't wait to build new friendships and connections with my campers and teach them sports that I grew up loving. I have played many sports over the years including cheer, dance, soccer and volleyball. I am looking forward to helping the campers make friends, try new sports and have a lot of fun this summer. I have so many great memories from being a camper at Decathlon Sports Club and I am excited to help kids make their own great memories this summer too!

Emily Jaquemin

Hi everyone! My name is Emily, and I’m so excited to be back for my second summer here at Decathlon! I truly loved being part of camp last year and can’t wait to make even more amazing memories with all of you this summer. I grew up in Sunnyvale and graduated from Homestead High School in 2022. I’m currently heading into my senior year at Arizona State University, where I’m studying Business Marketing with a minor in Psychology. I transferred to ASU from the University of Hawaii, and my goal is to work in the marketing and advertising industry—ideally within the world of sports!

Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played competitive soccer and field hockey throughout high school, and I even had the opportunity to coach a young team with Hawaii United Football Club while I was living in Hawaii. That experience was incredibly meaningful and helped spark my passion for working with young athletes—ultimately leading me here to Decathlon!

When I’m not at camp or school, I love going to concerts, hitting the beach, playing pickleball, and traveling whenever I can. I’m so excited to be back at camp this summer and can’t wait to continue creating positive, lasting memories with your kids!

Megan Tarbell

Hi! My name is Megan, and I am a rising sophomore at Gunn High School. I have learned to love to keep my body active, stemming in part from my very active family who got me involved in skiing, running, and hiking as a kid. I started kicking a soccer ball when I was just three years old and learned to bike even earlier. Now I play soccer for a club team, as well as cross country, soccer, and track for my high school. I have gone to Decathlon every year since kindergarten (except the COVID year) and fell in love with the community and friendly environment that the camp creates, the opportunity to play so many different sports, and obviously the popsicles! This year is my first year as a JC, and I am so excited to give back to the community that helped teach me so much about not only sports but attitude and sportsmanship by helping my campers. I am so excited to help the campers have as much fun this summer at Decathlon as I have had every year!

Olivia Bocchieri

Hi! My name is Olivia Bocchieri, and I am currently a full time student at Indiana University. I am going to be a Junior and am majoring in Film with a minor in Theatre. This will be my 11th year at Decathlon, starting out as a camper to now becoming a counselor. Every year, no matter if I was a camper or staff member, I look forward to coming back to camp. It’s one of my favorite places to be, and I enjoy spending my summers with amazing coworkers and campers!

Nora Kelman

Hi! My name is Nora, and this is my ninth summer at Decathlon. I am a rising sophomore at Mountain View High School, and camp has been such a big part of my life every summer. I have made many friends here and picked up various communication and teamwork skills along the way. This is my first summer as a JC, and I’m super excited to work with your kids! I have played many different sports, and I am planning to join the flag football team at Mountain View this fall. I also fence competitively and love being outside, especially biking and swimming. My older sister, Michelle, went to Decathlon for 10 years and was a counselor too. Together, we made tons of awesome memories. One of my favorite parts of camp has always been the field trips, getting to hang out with friends and counselors, and just having fun and making memories. I am so excited to get to know your kids and help make this an unforgettable summer!

Cami Melcher

Hi, my name is Cami, and this is my fifth summer at Decathlon. I grew up in Menlo Park, and just completed my freshman year at the University of Colorado Boulder. From a young age my parents threw me into sports, and I enjoyed every second of it. I did sports like tennis, swimming, dance, and aerial silks before I fell in love with soccer. While playing soccer I also played basketball and waterpolo. I love working with kids as they always add new fun perspectives to every conversation. I feel so lucky to be able to work at decathlon this summer and I know we are going to have a blast!

Frankie Jones

Hi, my name is Frankie Jones and this is my first summer working at Decathlon as a junior counselor. I was born and raised in Mountain View, I went to Springer Elementary school, then Black Intermediate school and now I am a sophomore at Saint Francis High school. I am very excited to work at Decathlon and I can’t wait to have fun and make awesome memories at camp. I enjoy playing many sports such as basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, lacrosse, field hockey and so many more. I can’t wait to work with the campers and play all the sports during camp. Besides sports I also enjoy listening to music and volunteering, and I am a part of the National Charity League, which is a volunteer organization for moms and their daughters. I play four sports at Saint Francis; field hockey, basketball, lacrosse and track and field. However, having three very active younger siblings, you can also find me at the baseball diamond, football field, and even at convention centers for cheer & dance competitions. Sports are a huge part of my life and I am looking forward to coming to camp and helping other kids find their love for sports. I am very excited to be working at Decathlon this summer!

Ashley Sarkosh

Hi, my name is Ashley Sarkosh, and this will be my 10th summer at Decathlon and my second summer as a counselor. I grew up locally, graduating from Gunn High School, and will now be going into my sophomore year of college. My favorite sport is soccer. I have been playing competitive soccer since I was 6 years old, and now play at the collegiate level. I was also on the swim team for three years at Fremont Hills Country Club, I played basketball for NJB for four years, and played recreational volleyball for two years. In high school, I played lacrosse and soccer. This past year, I returned to coach both of my former varsity teams. I enjoy playing sports because I can be active and get great exercise with friends who share the same goal. I have met many of my closest friends from playing sports. Because I love sports, Decathlon was a perfect fit every summer. Two of my favorite activities at camp were dodgeball and gaga ball, probably because I didn’t play them too often, and so I would always look forward to these activities when I went to camp. I also enjoyed seeing my welcoming counselors and friends every day. Going to Decathlon is always one of my summer highlights, which is why I am so excited to come back and be a counselor to encourage and provide your campers with lots of fun and great memories!

Zoe Tarbell

Hi! My name is Zoe, and I'm currently a rising sophomore at Nueva High School, with a highlight of my time there so being a part of the sports teams. I played indoor volleyball, soccer, and beach volleyball my freshman year, while also playing soccer for my club team. In my free time, I like to draw, paint, hang out with my friends, play with my dog, as well as go camping, rock climbing, and exploring the outdoors. Some of my most fond summer memories as a kid involved trying anything I wanted for a week, like a high-adventure camp in Tahoe, a soccer-sleepaway camp, or a makers camp. Today, I still enjoy trying new things. Even so, I've always enjoyed returning to Decathlon, and there was always something new to learn and do (every summer I'd meet at least ten new people and try at least three new things). I love being a part of the Decathlon community because everyone is so welcoming and kind, and the teachings are educational about sportsmanship. If I could go anywhere right now, the decision would be a tie between scuba diving at the beach and shredding the mountain slopes, because I love traveling. I enjoy working with kids, and I frequently volunteer at a family friend's preschool when I'm available. I'm so grateful for this opportunity, because I enjoyed being a JCIT the last couple of summers, and I love trying new sports. I can’t wait to work with your kids!

Miles Wolf

Hi, I'm Miles! I've been coming to Decathlon as a camper and then staff member for 14 years now. I grew up in Sunnyvale and went to Wilcox High School, where I played baseball and water polo. Then I went to UC Santa Barbara, where I majored in Chemical Engineering and spent all the time I could at the beach. After graduating in 2020, I worked in Orange County as a Process Engineer.

In 2022, I decided to take a break from work and I started to travel. In the past few years, I've backpacked through most of Western Europe, explored parts of Southeast Asia, spent a lot of time in Mexico, some in Israel, and had adventures all over the US. Now I’m studying data science and learning all about Artificial Intelligence.

During my travels, I saw many unique places and met many amazing people, but a massive takeaway from it all is how many incredible places and people there are right here in the Bay Area. Decathlon is one of those places with so many awesome people! I had a blast working with the Group 1.5 boys last summer and I’m excited to work with the J7s this summer. Let’s have some fun!

Tapan Dave

Hi, my name is Tapan Dave, and this is my second summer at Decathlon as a Director. I was born and raised in San Jose and am proud to be able to be a part of Decathlon! Having a twin, younger brother who was extremely competitive prepared me for the many sports that I would play in the future. I was more than ready to play sports as early as 5 years old. I played volleyball, basketball, and track throughout my schooling. When college came, I completed my tenureship with both Bachelors and Masters degrees with the goal of teaching. Most of my time in college was spent mastering my craft in teaching students various skills and topics while also fostering a growth mindset. I am also an Athletic Director who strives to give students an opportunity to grow and experience sports in a positive environment. I’m looking forward to spending the summer working at Decathlon Sports Club. I wouldn't want to spend my summer any other way, and I hope to make your kids feel the same way! Let's have an amazing summer!
